Dream turned Nightmare

My dream started out kind of normal. As normal as any of my dreams really are.

I was somewhere with my friend Matt and we were in school somewhere, living in this really nice apartment thing with a couple other people (who apparently we knew). My dog Charlie was also there and he was staying with us. We visited some hotel where a friend of ours lived. They had a pool so we chatted while my dog swam.

Then we went to go eat. We all sat in the dining area of the hotel and the person we knew who lived there told us some of his friends would be joining us too. Not a problem. Until they sat down and I saw who it was.
It was my ex-boyfriend Ian and his new girlfriend. And some other girl.
The dinner was going fine, until Ian said something vaguely insulting to me, to I returned a snide comment back. Then another sarcastic comment to me, and I sent one back again.
It went on like that until it seemed he was about ready to rip my face off. That's when I decided it would probably be best if I left, so I asked for my check. He did as well and when it came around he told me I should pay for his meal.
I refused, paid for mine, and left. He followed me with his bill. When I ran into my room, I locked the doors, as well as some other doors that connected my room to another room. He stood at the main door pounding on it and yelling at me to pay for him. I kept refusing. He then decided it would be intelligent to slip the bill under the door. I slipped it back under to him.
It went on like that for a while, the mood only getting worse and worse. He was saying really terrible things the whole time too. At one point I came face to face with him again and he said something about how it would make him feel really good to see me cry. That's when I locked myself back in my room. He proceeded to try to break down the door, so I went to hide in a small closet or something that was difficult to find unless you knew it was there.

Then I woke up.

Yeah, freak me out.
I've had a few dreams like thing since he broke up with me, but nothing that scary. Usually I just wake up feeling upset or pissed off, not scared.
In any case, if anyone is worried, no he did not beat me or anything like that when we dated. We just had this one really messy argument about a month before he broke it off, where he said some pretty mean things. I think that has stuck with me though.
